Denita Ireland

She:kon Sewakwe:kon, my name is Denita Ireland. I am Bear Clan, Mohawk & Oneida, and am proud to represent my home, the great Akwesasne Mohawk Nation. I consider myself a creative, exploring hobbies and talents including speechwriting, graphic design, tarot reading, candle making, and more. I’m driven by connection to community, self, and the collective consciousness, which is reflected in my creations. I’ve found myself never quite able to fit into a box, and as I move through life I have learned to admire that in myself and others. I’m happy to showcase a fashion collection that represents alternative culture with a focus on upcycling, because I love to find something that others might not see, nurturing and reshaping things to breathe a new life into them. I enjoy taking the time to experience everything this life has to offer, including debuting my collection alongside such talented Onkwehonwe artists.
